Meet the Obstetricians and Gynecologists, at Triangle OB GYN
Gerald G. Mulvaney, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Mulvaney graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his residency in Brooklyn, New York at King’s County Downstate Medical Center in 1982. He then moved to Goldsboro, North Carolina and opened a private practice. In 1985 he joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was assigned to the AHEC/Wake Medical Center. He pioneered laser and operative laparoscopy in the Raleigh area and also has special training in pediatric gynecology. Dr. Mulvaney's research interest is in perfecting infertility techniques, including assisted reproductive technologies and in vitro fertilization, as well as reproductive surgical procedures such as tubal anastomosis. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Lisa Marguerite Grana, M.D
Lisa Marguerite Grana, M.D., graduated Cum Laude with distinction in Psychology from Duke Universtiy and went on to receive her medical degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
In 1992, she was a resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and was Administrative Chief of OB/GYN Residency from 1995-1996. She was also a University Trust Advisory Board Member from 1993 to 1996.
Since 1998, Dr. Grana has been a board-certified fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology, member of the North Carolina Obstetrics and Gynecology Society, member of the North Carolina Medical Society, and member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Grana practiced in Salisbury, North Carolina for nine years where she served as Departmental Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, member of the Executive Committee for the medical staff, and member of Quality Assurance for the Rowan Regional Medical Center. While in Salisbury, she also served as volunteer physician and gynecologic coordinator for the Community Care Clinic and Clinical Preceptor for Wake Forest School of Medicine and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
Now Dr. Grana and her family have returned to this area where she has joined Triangle OB/GYN. Her interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology, menopausal management, pelvic reconstructive surgery, hysteroscopy, gynecologic oncology, urinary incontinence and normal and high risk obstetrics.
Spyro Vulgaropulos, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Vulgaropulos graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with honors in 1988 and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at UNC in 1992. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr Vulgaropulos returned to Raleigh to join Triangle OB/GYN after practicing for five years with the Fallon Clinic and the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Worcester, Massachusetts. His research interests include laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques. He has extensive training in normal and high-risk obstetrics, office and surgical gynecology, menopause management, chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and bladder dysfunction.
Sameh K. Toma, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Toma graduated from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 1988 and completed his residency there in July 1992. During his residency he conducted significant research in and has published several articles about infertility, endometriosis, and fetal well-being. Dr. Toma, who holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, used his scientific background to develop a color ultrasound system for better diagnoses. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr Toma has extensive training in in-vitro fertilization and advanced reproduction surgery, including microsurgery for infertility, tubal anastomosis following tubal sterilization, and urinary incontinence and dysfunction in women.
Kimberly Sniffen, CNM, MSN
Kimberly Sniffen, CNM, MSN, has been involved in the perinatal arena since graduating from nursing school at Johns Hopkins University in 1990. She received her Masters Degree in advanced perinatal nursing from Old Dominion University in 1995 and her midwifery degree in from Frontier School of Midwifery in 2003. Ms. Sniffen joined Triangle OB/GYN during her midwifery residency and she joined the staff permanently in 2003. Ms. Sniffen is married and has two boys.
Jessica Ramirez-Trower, CNM/MSN
Jessica Ramirez Trower recently relocated to Cary, NC from Coral Springs, Florida. She was the youngest graduate from Broward Community College School of Nursing in 1995. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, with honors, in 1997 from Florida International University. She completed her Master of Science degree in Nursing/Nurse-Midwifery from the University of Miami with induction to the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Association in 2001. She has 13 years of nursing experience in maternity, newborn, perinatal intensive care, surgical, oncology and HIV/AIDS. Jessica has worked as a midwife in both public and private sectors, providing full-scope obstetrical and gynecological care for the last 7 years. She is fluent in Spanish. She has a great interest in providing holistic patient care to achieve optimal health and well-being, by complimenting Western medicine with alternative therapeutics. Jessica enjoys playing soccer, practicing Kundalini Yoga and spending quality time with her spouse of 7 years, exploring North Carolina's natural beauty.
Lucie Neiman, CNM
Lucie Neiman joined Triangle OB/GYN in the spring of 2005. She graduated from New York University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She has decades of experience in maternal-child health nursing and childbirth, both at in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. In 1997, she fulfilled a life long dream of becoming a midwife when she earned her degree from the Frontier School of Midwifery. Lucie subsequently worked as a midwife in suburban Washington, D.C. in private practice, at the health department and as a volunteer at the Washington Free Clinic.
